Sugar-free Sarah!

Our manager, Sarah, is giving up sugar for the whole of February!

She will be avoiding anything with added sugar in: no cake, no chocolate, no sweets, no biscuits, no jam, no tins, packets or jars of anything that have sugar in. Not easy for anyone but imagine working around cake all day and not eating it!

Please sponsor her so we can improve our Children’s Corner. You can donate next time you call in, or online at

Make and Bake for the under 5s

Our sessions for pre-schoolers and carers during December proved really popular, and the youngsters have been very creative, as you can see from the pictures. Thank you to everyone who came and joined in the fun!

Following the success of these sessions in December, we would love to run them regularly throughout the year. We will need a team of volunteers to help us though.

Volunteers wouldn’t need to come up with all the ideas or provide any of the materials but would need to do some preparation for each session, ensure the other team members were informed and of course would need to love working with small children and their parents.

We would also ideally like someone to take on the role of leading the team of volunteers. You can download a role description for more details.

Please let us know if you would be interested, or if you know someone who would be.

Age UK also run a very popular IT course on Wednesdays in Cornerstone: helping you to get the best out of your laptop or tablet. Bring your device along, and connect to our free Wi-Fi.
